Registration requirements for PhD students have changed back and forth in the past years. When in doubt, contact your departments administration. In any event, you have to be registered in Canvas in order to participate in the course.
Chalmers bans me from registering PhD students manually on Canvas. Moreover, this year PhD students have to be registered in Ladok to even receive a passing grade.
